Confirmation - Wednesdays from 5:15-6:25pm

Confirmation 6th - 9th grades

Confirmation can be described as either Faith 201 (with Faith 101 occurring during the elementary years) or Faith Boot Camp. It is a period of time (3-5 years depending upon the congregation) when students build a foundational understanding in their faith that prepares them to continue learning and growing in faith as an adult. By the time a child is 11 or 12 years old they have the ability to make deeper connection, ask questions, and recognize differences between ideals and reality in the world and in life.

The 4 areas we ‘hardwire’ for youth during Confirmation, prior to their affirming their baptism are:

  • Bible Overview: Who is God; Who We are in Relationship to God (based on scripture); Key Scriptures
  • Key Beliefs in the Church, based on Luther’s Small Catechism: Lord’s Prayer; Apostle’s Creed; Ten Commandments – Christ’s Greatest Commandment; Confession and Forgiveness; and the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion
  • Christian History
  • Additional Beliefs of the Church: Law & Gospel; Saint and Sinner; How We are Saved; Theology of the Cross
  • Spiritual DisciplinesLiving Out Our Faith in Daily Life: Regular Worship; Prayer and Bible Reading; Fellowship with Other Christians; and Giving of Our Time, Talents and Treasures

The primary way children and youth learn about faith is by observing their parents as well as other adults. A rich, complete Confirmation program will include much more than an hour on Wednesday evenings; youth will observe, listen and ask questions of their parents and others. This is accomplished through…

  • Small group conversation.
  • Accompany them at lock-ins, retreats, learning field trips, servant events and times of fellowship.
  • Talking with them at home about what they are learning
  • Asking questions your self.
  • Worshipping, reading God’s Word, serving your self.

Entering the Story - (6th grade)

Entering the Story, provides our youth with a year of studying the Bible. Our leaders will use scripture, film and hands on activities to help the students explore who God is, who they are in relationship with God, and their call as disciples of Christ.

The 6th grade schedule may not always follow the same schedule as Here We Stand. (PLEASE be sure to check the Confirmation calendar...coming soon.)

Here We Stand – (7th and 8th grade)

Here We Stand curriculum is the foundation of our program 7th and 8th grade program. We add additional components to the learning events as enhancements and provide opportunities for service and fellowship both within and beyond the congregation. In addition, there are worship, camp and mission requirements that help develop spiritual disciplines. We make it fun, while still diving into the depths of questions teens have about God, themselves and the world.

RESISTRATION FORM for confirmation.

The 7th - 8th grade schedule may not always follow the same schedule as Entering the Story. (PLEASE be sure to check the Confirmation calendar.)
